Daily Scripture Reading: 1 John 1:8-9 KJV
1 John 1:8-9 KJV
(8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
(9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Today’s Devotional Is CONFESS OUR SINS
To sin is to miss the mark. This is the original meaning of the word.
The prodigal’s first words upon his return were: “Father! I have missed it!” Is it not possible to miss the mark and come up short all the time? Sin can be both negative and positive. Both the Confession of the Church of England (the Church of England) and the Shorter Catechism agree that “we have done the wrong things; we have not done the right things.” Sin is not just the transgression of God’s law, but also the inability to conform to His will. This two-pronged fork is necessary. A number of men will be making their way to the recruitment-station. The standard is six feet. All of them are below that height, but the tallest man glories in the fact he is two inches higher than the rest. He may be right, but he will still be rejected. While you may be more successful than others in your circle, Christ will forgive and save you just as much as the worst.
Confession is essential when dealing with sin. You must confess your sins with humility, patience, and sincerity. Don’t wait until the evening to pray, or even for an opportunity to be alone. Instead, go out into the street and confess your sins to Christ.
It’s not enough to confess your sins to Christ. You must first reconcile with him and then offer your gift at his altar. Confession is the best way to make amends. It’s not enough to be pleasant or offer a solarium. You must ask for forgiveness.
God forgets when He forgives (Isa_43.25). David said it and had good reason to believe that: “He restoreth mine soul.” Remember, He delights in mercy. He is faithful to forgive and cleanse. God can be absolute just through the Sacrifice at Calvary. He is also the Justifier for those who believe in Jesus.
PRAYER for Today
Heavenly Father, I am grateful for Thy loving, forgiving and pitying love. My sins cannot change Thy love. However, it can dim my enjoyment of it. I beg Thee to forgive me of the sin and its power, so that my eyes may see Thy face. AMEN.
