Daily Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV
2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV
(16) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
(17) That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Today’s Devotional Is SPIRITUAL FOOD
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if any man eats of this bread, he will live forever.” — Joh_6:51.
It is a trick used by many advertisers to get customers for patent food. They associate the figure of a person in good health and strength with the diet they want to recommend. Spiritual power and spiritual health can only be achieved if the spirit eats the Word of God.
The Holy Scriptures were taught to Timothy from his very early years. The Apostle met Timothy for the first time with a deep knowledge base of the Old Testament. This was where the Gospel message germinated. The reason some young people are so unstable is because Eunice and Lois, in Christian homes, fail to do the same for their children as mothers and grandmothers.
As the Apostle refers to Inspiration, it is not necessary to go into detail. Nor is it necessary that we have a deep understanding of books of theology in order to be able to speak on the topic. Inspiration can be described as a quality that is detected by the spiritual sense, in the same way that the tongue can detect sweetness and saltiness of flavour. The Bible is God’s Word, and its whole is profitable for any of the four purposes mentioned in 2Ti_3-16.
It is important to read the Bible every day. You can also use the references to find parallel passages. Sometimes it is a good idea to sit down and pray as you read. As we read, mark, learn, and then inwardly digest, we must look beyond the outer husk. Ask the Spirit to reveal some messages directly to you.
Some foods are devoid of the essential properties that support life. Christ is all that we need, and each faculty of our nature can be fulfilled in Him. If we want eternal life, He is our Living Bread. It is not just the Bible that is true spiritual food for the soul, but Christ who it refers to. “He who comes to Me will never hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.”
PRAYER for Today
O Lord, open my eyes so that I can see the wonders of Thy law. Thy Word is a light to my path and a lamp for my feet. AMEN.
