Acts 1:8 Devotional On WITNESS-BEARING IN CHRIST

Daily Scripture Reading Acts 1:8 KJV

Acts 1:8 KJV
(8)  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Today’s Devotional Is WITNESS-BEARING IN CHRIST

Driving-power is essential for all machines. The wheels may be shiny and new, with rubber tires, and the motor-car may have the most modern comfort and speed features. But it won’t move an inch until it is given the driving-power. The Gospel message is the same. Christ was crucified and rose again to complete the work of redemption. His disciples were chosen to bring the good news of salvation to the world. However, they could not do anything until they received the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit. This is a serious question that each one of us must ask ourselves: “Have you received the Holy Spirit to be in your power?” (Act_19:2). Is it possible to wonder if we are weak and our testimony against Christ faltering?

The circles in our lives are the witnesses: in Jerusalem, our home; Judaea, the society in which our interactions and work; Samaria, the city, town, or village where we live; the uttermost portion of the earth which is the claim of heathens upon us all. Each of these areas has a responsibility. Let’s start at Jerusalem, our home, and God will guide us step by step towards the great world beyond. Unfortunately, many people are too eager to reach the “uttermost parts” while neglecting Jerusalem and ignoring the claims of Judaea.

God needs witnesses. Witnesses are not supposed to argue or reason, but to simply state what they saw or heard and give facts. It is our responsibility to share with others what Jesus has meant to us. This includes what we have tasted, savored, and how we have used the Word of Life (1Jn_1_1-3). Your witness-box could be where you work, or where you are called to interact with people who do not know Christ. Without seeing Him in us, men cannot see Him. The Church of Christ witnesses to her unseen Lord, just as the moon reflects light from the sun in the dark hours of night. Let us pray for the Holy Spirit to help us be true witnesses to His glory in every emergency.
