Colossians 1:27-28 Devotional On WATCHING FOR SOULS

Daily Scripture Reading: Colossians 1:27-28

Colossians 1:27-28 KJV
(27)  To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
(28)  Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

Today’s Devotional Is WATCHING FOR SOULS

The Church and each member should recognize the importance of the MINISTRY OF WARNING as part of their work. The red light alerts the train to imminent danger. In the days before the plague, people were warned of infected areas. We should, as Christians, be able to raise our voices in warning, knowing the wrath that God has on those who reject Christ. It is important that we do this deliberately, earnestly and patiently. We must rely on the Spirit of God to speak our words, no matter how much they are resented.

It is amazing that God doesn’t appoint angels to carry His messages and appeals. Instead, angels are given the task that they love. We risk our lives if we ignore our opportunities in this direction. If the signalman is located at a crossing or divergence point of rail lines, and he does not wake up or performs his duties, he could be charged with manslaughter. We should also warn others if they are in danger of destroying their spiritual, moral, and physical well-being. If we were to see a boat filled with people speeding towards the rapids, we could be accused of being part of their destruction if we did not warn them.

Our words of warning should be accompanied by the repeated affirmation of God’s Love. He doesn’t want to see a sinner die, but rather that they should live and turn from their wickedness. It’s not enough to stop men from choosing the wrong path. We must encourage and excite them to choose the peaceful paths of righteousness and peace. All are included in God’s love. Sin cannot separate Him from His love, as illustrated in 1Co_13.1-13.

PRAYER for Today

We have not done many things we should have. We have received help from many, but we have not been able to give it; people have reached out to us for compassion that we have not blessed. We ask for forgiveness and we pray to Thee that we may follow Christ’s redemptive mission at all costs. AMEN.
