Daily Scripture Reading: Colossians 3:1 KJV
Colossians 3:1 KJV
(1) If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Today’s Devotional Is CHRIST IS RISEN
SINCE SOMEONE will respond, “Ha! There’s the rub!” My life is full of sorrow and sin. There are no Easter chimes, no happy fellowship with the Risen Savior, and no victory over dark and hostile forces. If you are Christ’s disciple you can affirm that you have risen in Him. You were with Christ when you fell into the grave. But you are now free to go forth according to God’s thought and purpose, if not your feelings or experience. This is clearly taught in Eph_2-10 and Rom. 6. The entire Church, including all those who believe in Jesus Christ, has entered the Easter dawn. Now, it is time for us all to start acting as if this were a conscious experience. And as long as we do that, we will have the experience.
The Apostle insists that this is what he said: “You died, Christ raised you, your life is hidden with Christ.” Take some time to reflect on it and then realize it.
As when Christian’s neighbours tried to get him to go back to the City of Destruction, the Cross of Jesus is there to protect you from the lure of the world. The Cross does not require us to ignore all that God has made beautiful and fair in our lives, but it is meant to remove us from the selfishness, sensuality, and savouring the lust of flesh, the lusts of the eyes, or the pride of living (1Jn_2;15-17).
Keep your eyes on the things that are above (Col_3;2). “A man thinks in his heart, so also is he.” Many of us don’t make any effort to protect our thoughts. Our hearts are open and we have no control over the thoughts that enter or leave. We could ask the Holy Spirit for guidance in our thoughts so that we can think only truthful and good reports.
Christ is your life, He is in you! Nothing should hinder His glory-filled indwelling. It doesn’t matter if the world misunderstands you. Your motives and purposes will one day be revealed (Col_3:4).
PRAYER for Today
Grant, Most Gracious God, that we may love Thee everywhere and always, and that We may find Thee in all things. May we also be able to hold Thee close for all eternity. AMEN.
