Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Devotional On FRIENDSHIP IS VERY VALUED

Daily Scripture Reading: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 KJV

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 KJV
(9)  Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
(10)  For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

Today’s Devotional Is FRIENDSHIP IS VERY VALUED

We cannot have many inner friends. But it is sad that a life without its own self would be lonely. The current conversation is about the friendship between David and Jonathan, Pythias and Damon. It is a blessing for a Christian disciple to go to heaven with a friend, Hopeful with Christian and Mercy with Christiana.

If we fall or stumble on the path of our lives, a friend can be invaluable. “Woe to the one who is alone when he falls!” “Brethren,” the Apostle says, “If a man is overtaken by a fault, you who are spiritual, restore him in the spirit of meekness. Consider thyself lest also be temptation.” Let us be attentive to each other’s souls. If anyone is falling from the truth or falling into some trap, let us lift them up. Let us show the brotherly concern that Barnabas showed Paul.

Friendship should make our spirits shine. “How can one be alone warm?” In a spiritual sense, there are divine caloric sources. The love of Christ makes it possible to feel vehement heat. It is easier to maintain the temperature when there is someone who cares about you. This may have been one of the reasons why our Lord sent His disciples out by two and two (Mar_6.7).

Material things are not enough without companionship. A poor man’s life is only as good as the ties to nature, friendship, or religious communion. The miser with all his wealth will lose that zest. It is vital to share fellowship with a fellow human being, not just in everyday life but also in the pilgrimage for the spirit.

True friends can help us resist temptation better. A friend who will say the words of Jesus, “I have prayed to thee, that your faith not fail” is a great help during trials. Jesus, our Faithful Friend and Savior, is the best fellowship. He lifts us up when we fall, makes us feel cold and soothes us from the temptations. He does not make the third cord in the threefold chain – “Where two or three people are gathered in My Name, there is I among them” (Mat_18.20).

PRAYER for Today

We pray for our pilgrims. We ask for your help to encourage them with our courage and our love. And to bear their burdens as far as possible. We can find Jesus, the friend that sticks closer than a brother in Jesus Christ. AMEN.
