Daily Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:14-15 KJV
Ephesians 4:14-15 KJV
(14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
(15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Today’s Devotional Is THE TALISMAN OF VICTORY
According to the Apostle, those who have this Hope will be able to purify themselves. One time, a young friend asked me if it would be possible to visit her lover. My train was stopped at a station on the wayside in a distant western State. We arrived at the Pullman car in the middle of the night. It was dark and we had a quick conversation. I was struck by the young man’s determination to keep his faith in truth and purity despite all the temptations that ranchers face. He stated that he was not able to attend religious services very often, but that the letters from the old country were his sheet anchor. I understood his meaning. The strong drift of his circumstances was obvious to him, but being loved by a pure, sweet girl who made him the subject of her incessant prayers and received her inspiring letters kept him from succumbing to the evil that enveloped him as an environment. The thought of his future bride helped him to cleanse and stabilize his life. The expectation of being with Christ and to be like Him should be to us as a sheet anchor, who bear His Name.
Every Christian soul has threefold destiny: to see Christ face-to-face, to fellowship with Him in unbroken communion, and to be like Him. How little do we know about our future lives? We try to see through the thick veil of mist, to imagine what the resurrection body will look like; how the converse with holy beings may amount to; what ministry may be given to us. Although we don’t know what our future life will be like, “we know we will be like Him.” That is enough. All we’ve ever hoped and dreamed of will blossom and bear fruit in that happy summer.
PRAYER for Today
O God, I long to live and grow. To grow in grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, May I be more patient and strong in my soul, humble and zealous, spirituality, and a heavenly disposition. AMEN.
