Genesis 12:1-2 Devotional On THE PILGRIM OF UNSEEN

Daily Scripture Reading: Genesis 12:1-2 KJV

Genesis 12:1-2 KJV
(1)  Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
(2)  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

Today’s Devotional Is THE PILGRIM OF UNSEEN

The Bible contains several passages that provide the clue to the beginning of this chapter. Act_7.2-5 reveals that the Call to Abram was repeated in Haran after the death of his father. Terah probably delayed his son’s obedience. Let’s help our children realize God’s call even if we are left alone on the other side.

Heb_11.8 reveals that the Pilgrim of The Eternal set out in the vast desert and learned his course day by daily; he was like Columbus sailing through uncharted seas month after month, never knowing when the shore might be visible.

Rom. 4. We are told that these promises were made to him while he was still a Gentile. He was the founder of the Hebrew nation after a period of thirty years. These promises are therefore guaranteed to his children by the Apostle, not only to those who are under the Law but also to those who share his faith (Gen_12.16). You can go back to that page and see that the amplitude of blessings includes you, my reader. Gal_3;8 and Gal_3;9, Gal_3,14 assure us that all of these blessings are part of the single gift of God the Holy Spirit. All of us who are in Christ Jesus as we follow the great Pilgrimage, will be blessed by Abraham.

There is a vast gap between us and Abraham’s distant days. But recent discoveries have revealed that Ur of Chaldees had a high level of civilisation 1,000 years before Abraham fled. Our experiences and his meet across the gulf between the ages.

PRAYER for Today

O God, may the great cloud that has witnessed the Pilgrim Way be an example of a godly lifestyle, so that we can run the race with patience, keeping our eyes on Jesus. AMEN.
