Daily Scripture Reading: Genesis 13:10-11 KJV
Genesis 13:10-11 KJV
(10)ย And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
(11)ย Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
Today’s Devotional Is THE SUPREME CHOICE
The SOUL who has accepted God as its portion can be generous!
Abraham, as the older man might have had the right to claim the priority of choice and leave the rest to Lot. But he was content to give up his rights since his Almighty Friend had determined the location he would inherit. Lot could make his own choices, but he couldn’t get an inch of that land God had promised His faithful servants. “Wait upon the Lord and follow His path, and He will exalt you to inherit the land.”
The Patriarch stood by his kinsman in quiet confidence, and he raised his eyes to claim the best advantage of his uncleโs offer. Abraham accepted Lot’s offer to take the Plain of Sodom for himself, which was as beautiful and well-watered as Paradise. He looked into God’s face and said: “Thou art my inheritance; Thou preservest mine lot; the lines have fallen to me at pleasant places; yea I have a goodly legacy.”
After the separation had taken place, God called His servant back up to the hill-top and gave him all of the land in a covenant forever. He also told him to go wherever he wanted over the soil, because it was his (Gen_13.14-17).
God will choose for you. As you stand at its threshold and gaze upon the land at the beginning, listen to His inner voice. The Call of His inner Voice rings down through the centuries: “Follow me!” “Lo, my love is with you all the days!”
PRAYER for Today
O God, I trust that Thou knowst what is best for my needs. This is all I could ask for: to be under Thy care and not mine. I will follow Thee wherever Thou takest through Thy grace. AMEN.
