Daily Scripture Reading: Genesis 1:5 KJV
Genesis 1:5 KJV
(5) And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Today’s Devotional Is THE MORNING COMETH
SIX TIME these words are repeated. The one thing that rings out is that God counts His times, not like man does from night-to-night, but from morning to evening. “Not first the light, then the dark, but first the darkness, and then the light.” God knew that every night would end in daylight and that there would be an eternal day when there will be no darkness at all. St. John observed this: “There will be no night there, because the Lord God gives them light” (Rev_22.5). The sun of materialism sets in the black ocean, which is unlit by the star that lights up hope. We believe that God will create a new heaven, and a new earth. He will also bring justice to the hapless. Creation will share in the great liberty of the sons God. What of the night, watchman? The morning comes! The darkness will end before the light of dawn. This is because God is God. He is Love, Light, and His Word is all that is needed.
The individual is the same. Sometimes life can be difficult. These three things may be part and parcel of your daily life: Sin is darkness; sadness is darkness; ignorance, darkness. The night is over, but the morning is here. The morning star is right in front of you. Your education is similar to that of a child in school. It was difficult and frustrating those first few days. But once the basics were learned, the discipline paid off and the harvests were ready to be sow. Then, darkness vanished. Keep smiling! There is nothing to be afraid even in death. “That night, they caught nothing. But when the morning came, Jesus stood at the shore.” As they blow around your boat, the dark waves are carrying you to the morning meal on the golden sands. There, you will discover that Love is already at work with its preparations. It will be night and morning, and lo! The day without night.
PRAYER for Today
O God, darkness and light are alike to Thee. The night shineth like the day. Let us follow Thee through the valley of shadows and trust Thee no matter what; until the day dawns and the shadows go away. AMEN.
