Genesis 24:12-14 Devotional On THE PROVIDENCE OF TRIFLE

Daily Scripture Reading: Genesis 24:12-14 KJV

Genesis 24:12-14 KJV
(12)  And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.
(13)  Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:
(14)  And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.

Today’s Devotional Is THE PROVIDENCE OF TRIFLE

This beautiful incident can teach us much about God’s guidance for the soul. Evidently Eliezer, the faithful servant had taken something from his master’s faith, method, so that we can see some of the principles upon which the whole camp was run. He speaks four times of Abraham’s God. Abraham trusted him and he was able to enter into the plan with equal zeal as if it were his private business. We would be equally focused on the business of our Heavenly Master and our associates, and our reverence and prayerfulness would impress those around us!

Each step was taken in fellowship and with God. But that didn’t stop him from carefully managing each step to determine the disposition of the young girl suddenly summoned from Haran to join the Messianic chain. It is fascinating and instructive to see Eliezer’s belief in the Providence of a Trifle. As the girl drew water, he kept his peace. Then, with the certainty of faith that his prayer had been answered, he placed the bracelets in her arms. Keep your eyes open for God’s blessings in all things.

You can count the number of times this noble man has managed to say “My master!” We may learn from him how to speak of our Saviour, whenever we get the opportunity–“Rabboni, which being interpreted, is, My Master!”

He asked for speedy delivery to himself and claimed that this would be showing kindness towards his master Abraham. We can ask God for great things and He will give us kindness (Joh_15,16). This is an old-world story that teaches us a valuable lesson to those who call Jesus Lord and Master.

PRAYER for Today

Send me, O Lord. I humblely ask for good speed today. May I be able to discern when to speak and when not to speak; when to act or when to refrain from action. May I faithfully serve You, my Master and Friend, in all aspects of my daily life. AMEN.
