Hebrews 13:1-2 Devotional On LOVE OF HOSPITALITY

Daily Scripture Reading: Hebrews 13:1-2 KJV

Hebrews 13:1-2 (KJV) 1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Today’s Devotional Is LOVE OF HOSPITALITY

The Love of Hospitality is emphasized in the book of Hebrews, where it says that we should continue to love one another and not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some may be angels in disguise. This reminds us of Abraham’s encounter with three men who were seeking help and hospitality. Although he may have been disappointed in the past, Abraham did not miss the opportunity to show kindness and generosity. As it turned out, two of the men were angels, and the third was the Son of God!

In our busy lives, it may be more challenging to care for strangers who may cross our paths, but we can all practice hospitality of the mind by opening our hearts to the stories of those who have suffered. It is essential to have a welcoming and sympathetic ear to listen to others’ sorrows and burdens. We should strive to make room in our hearts for human pain, sorrow, and loneliness, which strangers may want to share with us. We can rebuke ourselves for not being more like an inn or hostel where sad or weary souls can find shelter. Even if we cannot do much, we can always keep the door of our hearts open, and offer a fire of sympathy, kindness, and good-will.

By showing love to strangers, we are also ministering to our Lord Himself, who said, “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).

PRAYER for Today

Dear Lord, help me to be patient and kind to those who are weak, to help those who are struggling in life, and to carry the burdens of others. May my heart be open to the stories of those who need a listening ear, and may I always show hospitality to those in need. Amen.
