Isaiah 25:9 Devotional On GLADNESS AND THANKSGIVING

Daily Scripture Reading: Isaiah 25:9 KJV

Isaiah 25:9 KJV
(9)Β  And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Today’s Devotional Is GLADNESS AND THANKSGIVING

This song of praise was written by Isaiah for the time that Babylon, the proud city that had so long threatened the liberty of the Hebrew people, would be toppled. The prophet is so sure that the oppression and evil of this world will eventually lead to desolation, that he has prepared the song that was to be sung in joyous thanksgiving. The interposition of the shadow from a cloud reduces the heat of the meridian Sun, just as it does the pride and boast of the horrible ones.

This song of praise is only fully understood in Heaven when we sit down at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Isa_25.6-8). All Babylon’s that have threatened the well-being and security of humanity will be destroyed. The world will be free from the cloak of uncertainty and unbelief that now hangs so heavy over it. Death will have been swallowed in life, our shame will have been forgotten and tears will have been washed away. We will share the abundant joy. Let us be excited by the prospect of it.

Are you in need? God is your strength. Do you feel in need? He is your refuge. Are you feeling the storm pounding on your soul? He is your refuge. Are you sweltering from the heat of temptation? He will protect you. God, your Father will never leave you. Your need is your strongest argument, and your helplessness your all-sufficient plea. You, too, will enjoy song and feasting (Isa_25.4-6).

Praise is the highest form of worship. Prayer can be a way to approach God for selfish or more personal reasons. Praise is a way to worship Him as He is. No matter how tired or weary you are, ensure that your morning devotions begin with the key-note of thanksgiving. This is a wonderful way to increase the pulse and respond to every moment. The Psalmist said, “Awake, psaltery, and harp.” “I will wake up right away,” he added.

PRAYER for Today

O Lord, Thou art mine God. I will exalt thee and praise Thy name; for Thou hast done marvelous things for me soul. Thy counsels are truth and faithfulness. AMEN.
