Jerimiah 29:11 Devotional On A COMFORTING LIST

Daily Scripture Reading: Jerimiah 29:11 KJV

Jerimiah 29:11 KJV
(11)  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Today’s Devotional Is A COMFORTING LIST

We have much to learn from this letter’s excellent advice.

They were unable to settle down in the country they had been exiled to. They worried and planned constantly, talking about the past and making plans to return to their land and the inheritance they had lost. This letter was sent to them and to others in similar circumstances.

Are you being held captive? Your circumstances determine the restrictions and fetters you are subject to. You are more helpless than any prisoner locked up in a cell. You can’t do what you want, but you can. Do your best and wait for the Lord to do the rest. You will be able to do better work if you are faithful in fulfilling your obligations.

Think about the needs of others (Jer_29.7). This is where the remarkable story of Joseph comes in. He began to serve the prisoner’s needs when he was sent to jail. He was a beacon of light and comfort to the prisoners, going to and from prison to take an individual interest in each one. (Gen_40:6-7). We will find our own peace in the peace of those whom we minister.

The captives were offered comfort and hope. Despite their circumstances, God had thoughts of peace and not evil with regard to them. It may seem as though all was against us. We may feel discouraged, helpless, and uninviting. However, God’s holy heaven is thinking of you and His thoughts are not of evil but of peace. The horizon is filled with hope. You will soon see a better time, and you’ll forget the present as quickly as water that passes away. Your present troubles will pass in a certain time. God will most certainly visit you and speak His blessings towards you.

We must continue to pray in the meantime. “Ye will call upon me, and I’ll hear you; you will seek Me, I will be found of your” (Jer_29.12-14). It is important to live with faith, prayer, and communicate with God. God will ask you to do all of these things.

PRAYER for Today

We are grateful to Thee for all Thy kindnesses and we also thank Thee for allowing us to be sore and bitter. Help us believe in Thine infinite love that chastens us and may we become partakers of Thy holiness through the discipline of this life. AMEN.
