John 14:27 Devotional On THE FRUIT of the SPIRIT PEACE

Daily Scripture Reading: John 14:27 KJV

John 14:27 KJV
(27)  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Today’s Devotional Is THE FRUIT of the SPIRIT PEACE

BELIEVERS IN HIS CROSS, we can have peace because we are justified! What peace is there if our guilty conscience fears every step, lest it be for its arrest? Even if a wealthy evil-doer has all the comforts of wealth and the state, how valuable are they when he is afraid that the truth of his crime will be revealed? Peace can only be achieved when you see Christ take your sin on the Cross.

The second condition is to follow His commands and words. Listen to your Master in all pressing duties. All things should be done in His name for His glory. This was the life of Jesus Christ. Jesus came down to fulfill the Father’s will. He felt that God was calling for a new opportunity to serve Him in each incident. Sometimes it is enough to just follow His will. Other times, you have to do it. Each day, say to Him: “I delight in doing Thy will O my God.” The rule of duty has been transformed into love. This means that no sacrifice is too large or too expensive.

For the troubled heart, peace! Jesus is aware of your human anxieties and affections. Is He expecting you to be completely absorbed in His interests? And will He not take care of yours? He knows where you are, what your needs are, and how to help them. He will do everything in his power to help them. David had the lame Mephibosheth at his table because he was Jonathan’s son. Did the Lord not heal Peter’s wife’s mom out of love? All that makes you anxious for yourself or others, give it to Christ. Transmit and commit! Transmit and commit! Hand over, then hands off! Any thought that would threaten our peace should be stopped at the threshold. If there is any passion that would jeopardize the harmony of our inner family, the Peace of Christ will be the answer. “My peace,” He declared, i.e. the peace that kept Him and ruled over him. He invites us to share it now and not in the future. It is His legacy, guaranteed by His blood and the gift of His Holy Spirit.

PRAYER for Today

O Lord, I will not stop sinning, but I will abide in You, so that I can bear the fruits of Thee, which are love and joy and peace to Thy honor and glory. AMEN.
