John 17:11 Devotional On PRAYER FOR OUR LORD

Daily Scripture Reading: John 17:11 KJV

John 17:11 KJV
(11)  And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

Today’s Devotional Is PRAYER FOR OUR LORD

This MARVELLOUS 17th chapter of St. John s Gospel has been referred to as the Incense Altar for the New Testament. It is filled with the sweet scent of Our Lord’s intercession for our own. We should linger on it for a while to see if its wonderous depths are revealed before our eyes. It’s a window into His inner mind, which allows us to read some of His thoughts.

Christ’s self-obliteration. Our Lord’s earthly ministry was motivated by the Father’s glory. In fact, he anticipated those great words from the Apostle: “Of Him and through Him and to Him are all things: To whom be glory forever” (Rom_11,36). This is a great example of how we should follow His lead. Our fresh springs must also be found in Him, just as God did. We must also be willing to give up all things and hold them as His stewards.

Christ’s self-assertion. Our Lord did not destroy His own interests. However, there were many things that were inalienable and He could not dispose of them. He knew He was One with God and would always be. He also knew that the Father’s love for Him would be shared by many. We have the right to know that God loves us with an unchanging love and that Christ enriches our lives into God’s unchangeable fullness. Why don’t we share more of Christ’s self-obliteration for others so that we can stand with Him on these magnificent heights, beyond doubt and fear?

Christ’s self-realization. Hear His joyful words: “I am glorified among them.” “I am in them, Thou in me, that they might be made perfect in one.” Only when He sees His joy shining in the lives of many redeemed souls and sees His love being reproduced in their lives is He satisfied and fulfilled.

PRAYER for Today

We are grateful to Thee, our Heavenly Father, for sending Jesus, our Savior and Friend. Bring us closer to Him so that we can know Thee more through Him and be conformed according to Thine image. AMEN.
