John 18:37 Devotional On LIFE’S PURPOSE KJV

Daily Scripture Reading: John 18:37 KJV

John 18:37 KJV
(37)  Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

Today’s Devotional Is LIFE’S PURPOSE KJV

This was our Lord’s response to Pilate’s question, and each one of us can take His words to heart. Wordsworth’s timeless lines suggest that we stood before God in order to receive our commission, before we were made to suffer humiliation. We don’t need to argue whether or not the poet is correct in his assertion that “not in complete nakedness or forgetfulness do wir come from God who is our Home,” God, who loves nothing He has made, sent us out to achieve an ideal, to fulfill a purpose, and to bear witness to some phase or Truth. We should not, like the Apostle, ask ourselves if we are fulfilling the Divine purpose, which He calls “our high calling”. (Php_3:14).

Each soul was created by God with a purpose. A lump of clay is taken by the potter. Each clay lump has a unique design. When he puts the clay on the horizontal wheel, he means to use it as a vessel for adorning a temple or palace or to be used in a household purpose. His skillful manipulation of the wheel and the revolving one will allow him to evolve the wheel and fulfill his purpose. “Cannot you do with me, as this potter?” “Said the Lord.”

Thou hast made me, and fashioned me. Thou chose the time and place of my birth, my parents and heredity as well as my mental and physical equipment. Thou knewest my body’s constitution from the beginning, which Thou made secretly, and curiously worked in the lowest parts of the earth.

Our humble challenge: “Why hast Thou madee me so?” God doesn’t always respond in an audible way. Sometimes His voice is silent, but it steals in on the soul insensibly and we know we are fulfilling His purpose. If you find yourself in an unwelcome situation, it is likely that this is your duty. If you are asked to be a companion to someone with a difficult charge, or if you are called as a minister to those who are not responding or sympathizing, ask for the Saviour to yoke you together. That His Love and Kindness may bear and forbear through you and that you might be witnesses to the truth, just as it is in Jesus.

PRAYER for Today

O God, we all sometimes shy away from our life-work, those with whom it is necessary to be associated, and from the hard work and tedious tasks. Let us see Thy plan and trust Thee, who are working in our lives. Let the love of Christ help us to not live for ourselves but for Him. AMEN.
