Daily Scripture Reading: John 2:5-7 KJV
John 2:5-7 KJV
(5) His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
(6) And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
(7) Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
Today’s Devotional Is The WATER OF LIFE IS NOW WINE!
Do not forget to obey the inner voice of Christ. It may be identified by these signs. Do what He says to you!
Follow the instructions. Filling those large jars that stood in the vestibule was a test of faith. Each would hold about 20 gallons. It would have been a tedious task to fill them up, especially when guests were requiring other attention.
Always give Christ a generous measure of obedience. You may only be asked to teach a class, visit a sick person, write a letter, comfort them, give cold water, or hold a helping hand. But make sure your response is hearty! This is your chance! It’s a very ordinary and common task! It may seem inconvenient or unnecessary, but it could lead to the greatest achievement in your life. If the Lord calls you to co-partnership, don’t say “Please don’t ask me!” Serve Him to the fullest! He will never ask you to do a small act for Him without being ready to give His Almighty grace to make it perfect. It is amazing that He would ask for our assistance. We must fill Him up to the brim. As we do, we will see a beautiful and wonderful thing that is hidden from wise and prudent but made visible to babies. “The water was known by the servants who took it. This miracle is happening constantly, many of us realize. After filling our waterpots with water, we regretfully look at the results after many days of careful preparation. We think to ourselves, “After all, this is very poor stuff. Only water at its best!” We realize that the Master is working with us and has made the water into wine as we serve others. The Lord has secrets for those who follow Him. It is blessed to work with Christ. He knows and you also know. It is enough to share a smile with Him. Reserve wine is the best wine!
PRAYER for Today
Allow me to do more than what I want, but also what I should.
Allow me to be faithful in little and in common tasks, to learn Thy deep lessons in obedience, patience and conscientiousness. AMEN.
