Luke 12:15 Devotional On PROPOSALS and DISPOSALS

Daily Scripture Reading: Luke 12:15 KJV

Luke 12:15 KJV
(15)ย  And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Today’s Devotional Is PROPOSALS and DISPOSALS

MEN are often more interested in God’s help with spirituality than they are in the temporal. One man in the crowd appealed to Christ more to have Him intervene in his family dispute than to give him eternal life. Our Lord refused to act as Judge and Arbitrator. His ministry reached deeper into the springs of action. He saw that each brother had the root of covetousness which caused them to wrong one another. He uncovered the sin that was at the root all property disputes.

Our Lord said that life is not about having a lot of stuff. We tell you, “So and So is worth a million dollars!” Heaven measures a man’s worth based on his courage, faith and self-control. This is a result of years of discipline. Not possessions, character is what will determine your acceptance and rank in God’s Kingdom.

It is amazing how often God decides when man proposes! We may say that we will still live many years and reap the benefits of our labors, but God says, “To-night!” Listen to James the Apostle, who spoke to those who stated, “Today or tomorrow we will travel to this city or to that, spend a year there, then continue our successful business!” You don’t know what the future holds. Your life is nothing but a mist that appears on the hillside but disappears at the dawn. We should surely say, “If it is the Lordโ€™s will, then we shall live, do this or that” (Jas_4;13-17).

Many people talk about seeing life only as its worst and most ugly side. The secret to seeing life and knowing happy days is found in 1Pe_3 :10-19. This is the Gospel message: “That God has given to us the Life of all ages and that it is in Christ Jesus.” The Son is the life. (Joh_3; 1Jn_5/12).

PRAYER for Today

Lord, I do not know what lies before me. But Thou knowst. I ask Thou to take my portion. Take me by Thine hand, and keep me close to Thee day by day and night. AMEN.
