Mark 9:22-23 Devotional On PRAYER AND POWER

Daily Scripture Reading: Mark 9:22-23 KJV

Mark 9:22-23 KJV
(22)  And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
(23)  Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Today’s Devotional Is PRAYER AND POWER

In the life of OUR Lord, there was no separation between God’s life and human needs. The Transfiguration is Raphael’s magnificent picture, which blends the scenes of the valley and mountain on one canvas. This must be true life. The heart must control the blood’s flow, and it must be aerated with Heaven’s oxygen. After that, the blood must pulsate to the extremities.

How many people are possessed by evil spirits that are destroying health and peace? How many bring their friends or family to the disciples and make the same mistake as this man. It is impossible for them to get any help and the demon makes fun of them! Without power from above, we must recognize our inability to fight the evil forces that sweep the globe (Luk_10,17, Luk_10,20; Act_1,8).

Notice how our Lord takes away the responsibility from the father. He said, “If Thou cannot do anything”, but Jesus replied: “The if is with Me, not with you.” It’s not a question about My power, but your faith. Can you believe?” The Master then retook the responsibility from the father, saying, “I fear I don’t have enough faith, but I trust Thee that it will be in me.” Please help me in my unbelief.

Both you and I fail to believe in God because we are blinded by our sinful natures. We are not able to tap the immense ocean of power that is all around us. It’s like an electric current that refuses to help us unless our instruments are specifically adapted to transmit the driving power. For God’s power of salvation to be delivered to the world, faith is essential. If faith is lacking, or our hearts do not believe in it, when we are confronted with Jerichos and mountains that mock the small levers with which they can be moved, we need to turn to Christ and ask him: “I trust Thee for Faith, I trust Thee that I will trust: I believe, help me my unbelief.”

PRAYER for Today

We allow Thy fullness into our being. If our capacity is limited, we ask O Lord to increase it so that we do not miss anything that is possible. We know that we are not limited by Thee but only in ourselves. AMEN.
