Daily Scripture Reading: Matthew 28:20 KJV
Matthew 28:20 KJV
(20) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Today’s Devotional Is THE LORD IS WITH YOU
These words have a beauty and meaning that is not lost when translated from Greek to literal English.
They are so fresh, vital, and inspiring! Although they are household terms, they can be as refreshing as spring mornings laden with the ozone from the sea.
We tend to avoid the mysteries of life and fear its pain more for ourselves than those we are closely connected to. We all need guidance, wisdom, strength, guidance and a brother’s care. But, everything is possible if we are able to appreciate and accept the amazing fact that Christ is always present.
We must fulfill certain conditions. Obedience. Respect My Words. I will reveal Myself to him if a man keeps My words… Your life’s path is marked by God’s Providence, whether it be in ordinary existence or in a special mission and calling. You will be able to see a magnificent Presence walking beside you as you bravely walk it.
Purity is “the pure in spirit see God”. This is Tennyson’s description of the Holy Grail. A quiet heart. A quiet heart is not something I mean. Meditation on God’s Word can help to instill a quiet spirit and a devout spirit that recognizes His presence. The Bible is like the garden where the Lord God walked in the cool mornings; you can read it often and prayfully and you’ll meet Him in its glades.
Recollection. Sometimes, you will feel His presence in your soul. It is also a great secret that you can say, “Thou art here O Lord!” I don’t feel or enjoy Thee. My heart is broken, but Thou art beside it!” The realizing faculty is faith, not feeling. It is the realizing faculty that allows you to see His presence even if you were not there with St. John on Patmos. With it, we can find Him in London today as He was long ago in Palestine.
PRAYER for Today
Jesus Christ, Thou art always with us. We need to have eyes to see thee, and ears to hear Thy voice so that Thou mightest be more real than our closest friends. AMEN.
