Matthew 6:6 Devotional On THE SECRET PLACE OF PRAYER

Daily Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:6 KJV

Matthew 6:6 KJV
(6)  But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Today’s Devotional Is THE SECRET PLACE OF PRAYER

PRAYER must have deliberateness, the inner chamber, secret place, fixed time, and the shut door against distractions and intruders. The Father awaits us in that secret place. He is there just as much as He is in Heaven. Be reverent as Moses was when he took his shoes off! Trust is key, as you will be having an audience with One who has infinite compassion and love. Don’t be discouraged; He can solve any problem, and He can untie any knot!

God knows more than us what we should and need. He has seen every detail of our lives, every trial, and every temptation. The unknown and unanticipated, the sun shining on the path, and the weeping clouds are all covered by Him. He will listen to your requests and forecasts and rejoice when they are in line with His infinite wisdom. Or He might give you something more suitable to your case.

“He will repay you.” If He doesn’t remove the cup, He sends an angel to strengthen you; if the thorn is not removed, He will provide more grace. Your Heavenly Father will meet your specific needs in one way or another, and you may feel certain. It’s as certain as hearing Him say, “Go your own way, your prayer has been heard”: “I will take care of you, trust me, and all will be well.” Once you have given God a matter, it is best to leave it alone. Don’t repeat the committal. That would suggest that you have never made it. The best attitude is to gaze into God’s eyes and say, “Father, Thou knowsest, understandest and carest!” I trust those whom I trust and I am convinced that Thou will not fail.

A prayer is never ending. But that isn’t the repeated request for the same thing. That is the blessed exchange of happy fellowship. Do not waste your time repeating the same thing as the heathen who believe they will be heard. But, count Him faithful that He promised! This is perhaps the most important attribute of prayer. Faith is the assurance that things will be seen.

PRAYER for Today

Lift us up into light, love, purity, and blessings, and grant us our share with those who have placed their trust in thee and sought in small and great things, as well as things tempered and eternal, in order to fulfill Thy holy will. AMEN.
