Proverbs 17:22 Devotional On CULTIVATING CHEERFULNESS

Daily Scripture Reading: Proverbs 17:22 KJV

Proverbs 17:22 KJV
(22)  A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Cultivating cheerfulness is something we need to work on, as a happy heart is like good medicine. We cannot let our moods consume us, even when we feel down for no particular reason. Instead, we need to make an effort to keep ourselves from imposing our sadness on others, so we don’t become a wet blanket.

At the same time, we don’t want to be the person who is always trying to be funny and turning every occasion into a joke. That can become tiresome too. Instead, we need to strike a balance and avoid falling into the other extreme of being too gloomy and moody.

To promote a cheerful heart, we need to focus on the positive aspects of our lives and count our blessings. Instead of dwelling on what we’ve lost, we need to appreciate what we still have and be thankful for it. When we have a living union with Jesus Christ, we have an infinite supply of peace, joy, sunshine, and light. By opening our hearts to Him, we can cultivate a cheerful spirit.

We can change our moods by making a resolute action of the will. We can choose to be cheerful, speak positively, and spread joy to those around us. Let us put on the garments of joy and go forth into the world to shed sunbeams rather than shadows on the path of life.

PRAYER For Today

Dear God, through all the ups and downs of life, in times of trouble and joy, let us always praise and thank you. Help us to cultivate a cheerful spirit, even when we don’t feel like it. May we focus on the positive and count our blessings, so we can spread joy to those around us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
