Daily Scripture Reading: Psalms 1:1-2 KJV
Psalm 1:1-2 KJV
(1) Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
(2) But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Today’s Devotional Is BENEDICITE!
The THEME OF this Psalm’s first Psalm refers to the Blessedness of keeping “the law,” which is the transcription of God’s mind and will. David never became weary of its praise. “How I love Thy Law; it is my meditation every day!”
We all need to have a passion for God’s will and His commands. Faith to fulfill, doctrine to learn and faith to live are two of the qualities that will allow us to be pure and childlike and help us understand the Bible, the natural world, and human lives. The Psalter, which enshrines God’s Law and ends with Hallelujah, may be blessed!
These are the first negations of the true and loyal soul. We will never be able to follow the advice of the wicked if we refuse to do so. These negatives, however, are most valuable because they contribute to the positive. The wall protects the plants that grow behind it. Hidden springs are essential for our religious life. The roots of the tree crawl under the soil to get water from the stream (Psa_1_3). This life is beautiful and fruitful. Because it is a part of God’s will, it is also successful. It is not really damaged by evil and it understands its purpose.
Refusing to reverence God and obey His will is like the lifeless, rootless and fruitless chaff that is scattered by the wind.
What type of life do you live? Is your life a deeply-rooted tree that yields beauty, fruit, shelter, and joy to many or a wasteful chaff?
