Daily Scripture Reading: Psalms 37:7 KJV
Psalm 37:7 KJV
(7)ย Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Today’s Devotional is FRET NOT
It is a mistake to always turn back in order to find the past. Christian living does not require us to look back, but forward. It is wrong to always turn back for the past, but instead for the future. For every new height we reach, there will be the appropriate joys. Do not worry, life’s joys will pass you by. There is more ahead. Keep looking up and press on, there is more! Every ideal we hold dear is a precursor to a future that will be better than we ever imagined. The Philosopher’s stone was a discovery that ancient alchemists believed would make all substances they touched gold. Although they did not discover it, they helped to create modern chemistry. This has proved more beneficial for our species than the magic-stone. Who will say those old explorers were fooled? Did they not see God leading them to greater things than they could have imagined?
Do not be afraid of the dark future. The troubles we expect may not come to pass. It’s a long road without any turning and even the darkest days have a glimmer of hope. Worrying will not make matters better. It cannot alter the past or the future, but it will affect our ability to deal with problems. While it won’t make tomorrow easier, worrying will take away your ability to see the future and your ability to be courageous. Let us pray and turn to God, praying for the few patches of blue that are found in every sky. If you can’t find any, be open to the possibility that God will make everything work for your good.
PRAYER for Today
Heavenly Father, we have been cautious and troubled by many things. We ask for forgiveness. Let us have a deep faith in Thee that our doubts and fears will not be able stop us from living in peace. We can surround ourselves with fire and a wall of fire to-day. Let us listen to Thy voice, “Fear not, I am with you.” AMEN.
