Daily Scripture Reading: Psalms 73:28
Psalms 73:28 KJV
(28) But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
Today’s Devotional Is THE VIEWPOINT OF SANCTUARY
The GOOD Asaph was very troubled by the wealth of the wicked of his day. He resisted speaking out about the subject, fearing that it might affect their religious lives. But the iron pierced his soul. There were others who appeared to be at ease even though they were pointing their noses at the heavens. But he was plagued every day, even though he washed his hands and cleansed his heart. He entered the Sanctuary of God one day in a disoriented and disturbed state of mind. There, God spoke to him, revealed the future and showed him the contrast between the wicked, and himself. It was then that Eternity had taken over Time, and heaven had restored the earth’s uneven balances.
Every one of us should have a sanctuary. It could be the House of God or a quiet place in the woods, garden, or by the sea. The soul that doesn’t have a sanctuary where it can escape the noise and rush of life is to be greatly pitied. We need to be able to stand before God, like Abraham (Gen_18.22-23).
Remember the command to build according the sanctuary pattern (Exo_25.8, Exo_25.9, Exo_25.40). We cannot drift aimlessly in life, at the mercy and will of all currents and winds; we must also not be satisfied to be our own pattern-makers or copyists. Let us climb into the mountains of God before we embark on any change or new objective in our lives. You can be sure that God has a plan for you, even down to the tassels in your life. If we follow His leadings, we will be led to places that neither our eyes nor hearts have seen.
Frances Ridley Havergal wrote: “I am amazed at the possibilities of living a Christian life!” In my case, once far-fetched possibilities have become real. A new horizon opens up before me, and I am now able to see the possibilities that God has for me.
Forget about the past! You will forget your past failures and sins, the faded laurels of past success; the bitter memories from failed attempts. They can be left with God. Let the dead be buried! You can plan your life knowing God is willing and able to give you the graces that you need.
