Revelation 22:17 Devotional On SPRING UP, O WELL!

Daily Scripture Reading: Revelation 22:17 KJV

Revelation 22:17 KJV
(17)  And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Today’s Devotional Is SPRING UP, O WELL!

TRUE RELIGION refers to the union of God’s Spirit with human spirit. This is accomplished in and through Jesus Christ. “He who is joined to the Lord, is one spirit. Jesus is the mediator between God and men. He unites us with God and makes His home with us (Joh_14.21-23).

Continue our thought from yesterday’s reading. It is so that our religious life can be a springing-fountain. The woman spoke about “the well,” the Lord of “the spring within the well.” She spoke about the fatigue of drawing up, He of the rising up. Religion is not spontaneous. It is derived from too many. They need to attend religious services or hear a preacher or have access to books or stimulants. While outside help is beneficial, we should not rely on them. You can learn to be still before God until His love rises in you yearningly.

Anything that hinders the Fountain’s rise must be abandoned. One curious incident occurred at a college of training. When suddenly, the whole water supply failed, it was a full house of students. After all efforts were made to locate the cause, a plumber was dispatched to inspect the connection between the main supply line and the house-pipe. This was opened to reveal a large toad that had filled the hole and prevented water from passing through. It had arrived as a tiny tadpole and had lived in the joint until it was fully grown.

This could happen in your life. Hidden sin can grow inside, unchecked, until the incoming love from God is choked. Jesus saw that the woman had unconfessed sin in her heart, which prevented her from receiving the Living Water. In His mercy, He revealed the evil and removed the obstruction, and the Fountain of Life was immediately born. She stopped arguing and became a disciple. She let go of her prejudices and set off for the town. There, she told everyone she met that she had finally found the Messiah. She returned to the town with her entire village behind her. Jesus knew it was harvest-time!

PRAYER for Today

O Savior of men! I am nothing more than ordinary earthenware. But may I be washed and purified and filled with Thy heavenly treasure. I am able to dip into the water of Life, and receive refreshment through my heart. AMEN.
