Romans 14:7-8 Devotional On LOVE AND LIBERTY

Daily Scripture Reading: Romans 14:7-8

Romans 14:7-8 KJV
(7)  For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
(8)  For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.

Today’s Devotional Is LOVE AND LIBERTY

The key to this amazing chapter is the tenth repetition of the reference that the Apostle makes to Jesus, which occurs in 14 verses. Jesus is Lord of both the living and the dead, and so the answer to the question of what the Christian should do and leave unfinished. Let us all stand before Christ’s judgment-seat, or at the very least before the reflection of the tribunal that is reflected in the calm expanse of our conscience. We will have a clear guideline for conduct.

Rome raised the question of whether or not to observe the Christian Sabbath, the seventh day of the week. What principle should guide food use? The Leviticus or common usage? These are not questions that affect our salvation or our relationship with God, according to the Apostle. These are issues that each Christian must decide and settle for himself. Some questions are clear and certain, others are dark and unclear. But there are many other questions that must be answered. Each person must use one of these principles to guide them through the maze.

What would Jesus Christ, Lord and Master, want me to do? I am His servant and He will guide me by His Spirit in my heart. It doesn’t matter if I forbear or act, it must be done to Him. In my liberty or abstinence, I must give Him thanks.

Do you want to do the best for your fellow humans? I have influence over others; maybe more people look to me for direction than I do. I must be careful not to cause a problem for another person. Even though certain things may seem innocent to me, I will not allow them to destroy Christ’s body, either directly or indirectly.

What’s best for me? I beg God to not lead me into temptation but I must not allow myself to get into it. To follow Christ, I must let go of all my sins and weights.

PRAYER for Today

O Master and Lord, may we remain faithful to Thee in all things, following the inner light until it leads us into the perfect day. AMEN.
