(13) Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Today’s Devotional Is THE GOD OF HOPE
We all need to be filled with Hope. Hope is the artist in the soul.
Faith gives us joy and peace that brims over with Hope. Hope brings the material of expectation and anticipation from God’s Word to Faith, and she transfers them to her palette. With a few delicate strokes of her brush, Hope delineates the soul’s eternal and unfading hope. Faith excite Hope to do her best work until the soul’s wailings become frescoed with joy. Faith is based on God’s Word. Hope rests on faith. Such hope can never be shamed. It is the anchor of our soul that enters the veil and connects us to the shores at eternity (Heb_6.18-19).
Faith is based on God’s promises. She doesn’t calculate on feelings, and is not indifferent to emotions. Instead, she holds onto a word of promise with both hands, and looks into God’s eyes, saying, “Thou shalt not be unfaithful.” It is as sure as if it were in your hands when God promises aught to you. Faith does more than just take the Word of God and put her weight on it. Faith often, when pressed, goes beyond the Bible to God and claims that God is faithful and cannot be denied. God is God and must always act worthy of Himself.
Moses, who was in the Holy Mount with Him, argued that such a thing would be unworthy of Thee! (Num_14:13-20). Although we may be bombarded with questions about the rightness of a course, we must not notice them more than a barking cur. One businessman once stated that doubts can sometimes arise when he believes in a course of action. However, when this happens, he will turn to God’s promises and read three or four chapters from the Old Testament. He is able to connect with the eternal world and feel joy and peace, as well as the hope that he can believe, thanks to the Holy Ghost. They will not be ashamed of their faith in Him.
