Daily Scripture Reading Romans 5:17 KJV
Romans 5:17 KJV
(17) For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
Today’s Devotional Is REIGNING IN LIFE
It would take a lifetime, if not eternity, to discover the hidden treasures in this paragraph. We should not look up at heaven but take advantage of the opportunity we have during this earthly life to reign through the One, Jesus Christ. This promise will be fulfilled! While we may need to wait for our future lives to reveal depths of meaning that transcend our thoughts, any fair reading of this verse will tell us to take it right away for now.
But, “How can these things be?” This question was asked by Christ, an Israeli master. Only those who are born from above can enjoy the blessed life of victory. We were naturally born below into Adam, the “living soul” of nature. We must be born from the top, into the second Adam who is a life-giving spirit to all who believe in Him (1Co_15.45). The flesh that is born is flesh and cannot rise to the Spirit by itself. Only the Holy Spirit can lift it into union with Himself. If you are willing to surrender your heart and trust Christ, He will accomplish this for you.
It will make a huge difference! It will make a huge difference! We are often as blind as Balaam to the Angel who stood by our wayside! We plan! We lay awake for half of the night with anxiety and fear! We visit this friend or that friend! We don’t claim the abundance of grace that is meant to meet our every need. Only when we are humble and trust God, can we reign in our lives. The Latin word for abundance is ocean-waves. Look out from the shore at that vast expanse and don’t be satisfied with just grabbing enough oyster-shells!
What will it result in? A royal life! A royal life! If victory means we are more than conquerors because of Him who loved us. If it is largess, we have all sufficiency in all matters and are abounding to all good works.
PRAYER for Today
Heavenly Father, I am grateful for the trials and hardships that have been for my benefit and for making me a partaker in Thy holiness. May the grace of Thy favor be upon me, and that I may reign in this life and all future. AMEN.
