The KJV of the Bible has a few things to say about bragging. For example, Proverbs 27:1 says “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” In other words, don’t be so sure about what will happen tomorrow that you start bragging about it today. Another verse, 2 Samuel 12:14 says “But because by doing this you have shown utter contempt for the LORD your God, the child who is born to you will die.” This is an example of how bragging can actually lead to bad consequences. In this case, the prophet Nathan tells David that his child will die because of the sin of boasting.
