(31) And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Today’s Devotional Is PREVAILING POWER
The Holy Spirit incites the Holy Spirit to pray.
He acts as the medium between heaven and Earth, and communicates to us God’s thoughts and desires so we don’t ask questions. The ether can connect one continent to another as long as both the receiver and transmitter are in agreement, and so too the Holy Spirit. Prayer is sent from our hearts and carried forward by the Spirit to our Lord. Perhaps it is better to say that prayer originates in our hearts, is carried forward by the Spirit, and is then transmitted from us to Him. As we know that our thoughts can reach distant friends by helping them, so is it possible for our thoughts to reach the Lord Jesus. We pray that He will always be in our thoughts and that we are always in His sympathy.
There are four types of prayer. The Prayer of Communion, fellowship. It’s like a father asking his child why he keeps coming to his study. He discovers that the child does not have a special reason and just wants to be there with him. We should not settle for the knowledge of God our father that ordinary men have, but rather be aware of our talents and yearnings, which can only be fulfilled by fellowship, communion and adoring loving.
The Prayer of Request. This is a prayer we might use more at the beginning of our lives than later. As we grow older, we learn to be content to trust in the loving and caring hands of our Heavenly Father. We are able to accept that not all our prayers have been answered and that God does more for us than we think or ask.
The Prayer of Intercession. This prayer is closest to Christ’s mind. He wears our names on his heart and is always willing to help.
The Prayer of Conflict. Sometimes we are called upon to enter the Garden and share with Him the burden of His conflict against the principalities or powers of evil. It is important to pray and watch out at such times.
PRAYER for Today
Please warm my heart Lord, I beg Thee. All that keeps me from giving myself to Thee is removed. Grace, grant me to obey thee in all things and to follow Thy leading. AMEN.
