Today’s Devotional Is Living a Faithful Life in Daily Routine
In the midst of our everyday tasks and chores, it can be easy to forget that our lives have been appointed by God’s providence. Just as a young man is called to the ministry, a carpenter is called to the bench, a blacksmith to the forge, and a shoemaker to the last. In whatever we do, we are called to abide with God.
We are called to be faithful in performing our assigned duties. Not brilliance, success, or notoriety, but the regular, quiet, and careful performance of even the most trivial and common duties, is considered an attainment in God’s sight. We are fellow-workers with God in every honest piece of work we undertake. It is our responsibility to give people their daily bread by reaping, threshing, grinding, making, and distributing it. Every profession and trade serves a purpose in God’s plan.
To those who may feel like they are nobodies, drudges, or maid-of-all-work, know that your work is essential to God’s plan. Take up your work with a brave heart and do it with the intention of pleasing God. Cultivate a spirit of love for God and others, and look out for opportunities to encourage your fellow workers. Do not murmur or grumble but instead let your heart rise from your toil to God your Maker, Savior, and Friend. By doing so, even the lowliest of services will glisten like grass-blades in the morning dew.
Prayer For Today
Let us pray to God that He may guide us through all our daily tasks and may we be found doing those things which are well-pleasing in His sight. Amen.
