Isaiah 33:21-22 Devotional On THE ALL-SUFFICIENCY OF CHRIST

Daily Scripture Reading: Isaiah 33:21-22 KJV

Isaiah 33:21-22 KJV
(21)  But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby.
(22)  For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

Today’s Devotional Is THE ALL-SUFFICIENCY OF CHRIST

THE R.V. The R.V.

This can only be a reference to our Saviour, the Divine Vice-regent for the world. It was made through Him, it has been redeemed by Him, and its government is in His hands. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. His are the Glories and Victory over Death, Hell, and the Ascension. He is also the Lord of lords.

This Glorious and Transcendent Savior is eager and willing to help us with our needs and deficiencies. As we look around, some of us lament our shortcomings, even though we don’t audibly complain. Some people we know from childhood seem to have everything that we desire: a happy marriage, a beautiful and spacious home, friends and family, good health, travel opportunities, and joy that is not available to them. We have been chastened each morning and plagued every day. We lived a closed-in, isolated life. We have lived a life of the bare necessities of life, and our dreams have been haunted by anxiety about our future.

This experience is not unique to us. Our Lord Jesus spent the night on Mount of Olives after each one returned to their own homes. The birds had their nests and the foxes had their holes, but Jesus, the Son of Man, had nowhere to rest His head but like Jacob, made a stone his pillow. If your life is difficult and lonely, you are not alone. Many of God’s most noble saints have been wandering in the deserts and mountains, in caves and dens of earth, becoming destitute and tormented.

These experiences are meant to highlight the glory of God. The complement of a curve is what we use in mathematics to describe the necessary steps to turn a curve into an entire circle. Jesus wants to complete our lives regardless of how imperfect or ineffective they might be. He can make your life “a place full of rivers and streams” and compensate for any shortcomings. A stream that can intercept evil and a river that can replenish and fertilise the thirsty.

PRAYER for Today

Bring us, O Glorious Lord a place of wide rivers and streams. You are our Judge, our Lawgiver; your King, our Saviour. Make the wilderness of your life a pool and the dry land water springs. AMEN.
