John 11:25-27 Devotional On CHRIST’S TEACHINGS ABOUT RESURRECTION

Daily Scripture Reading: John 11:25-27 KJV

John 11:25-27 KJV
(25)  Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
(26)  And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
(27)  She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

Today’s Devotional Is CHRIST’S TEACHINGS ABOUT RESURRECTION

This crowning miracle in the life of our Lord is commonly called the Raising of Lazarus. It could also be called the Awakening Martha. This miracle of our Lord’s life is not hard to believe.

Martha, like many religious people, believed in a general resurrection at some future date. But she didn’t realize that God lives in present tense. The Eternal is now and here, and faith must learn how to count on God’s I AM. The manifestation of the Divine is always in the distant past or future. The heavens are higher than the earth upon which we stand. Only at the horizon, both behind and ahead of us, can heaven and earth touch. All of us need to understand that Jesus Christ is the immediate and present answer to all our needs, even in the mundane commonplaces.

Christ’s teachings about Resurrection are very different from those concerning immortality. Plato believed that the soul was immortal, but he did not believe in resurrection. Resurrection refers to the union of the soul and the body. It will be raised in an identical form with, but different from the graved body.

Martha couldn’t understand all of these amazing revelations. But she answered Yea to their questions based on what she believed Christ to be. At least He was the Messiah. And whatever He said, it must have been so. It is possible to accept many things that we do not understand from the simple words of Jesus.

Christ needed faith in someone to be the fulcrum of His mighty power. He found that person in Martha. What is He able to do in the hearts of those who are slow in believing and those who are dead in their trespasses or sins? This is what thou believest?

PRAYER for Today

Our hearts are filled with unimaginable joy, O God of Love and Life. We are grateful to Thee for Jesus being the Resurrection, the Life, and that all who believe in Him will never die. They live, He lives, and so do we! We praise Thee, thank Thee and bless Thee. AMEN.
