John 1:14 Devotional On CHRIST’S GLORY

Daily Scripture Reading: John 1:14 KJV

John 1:14 KJV
(14)  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Today’s Devotional Is CHRIST’S GLORY

The glory of Christ is evident when we examine the titles given to Him by St. John in the Gospel’s first chapter.

The Word (Joh_1-1). Jesus is the speech and character of the invisible God, just as words reveal our character. He has spoken or declared God (Joh_14.9). According to the Psalmist, the heavens proclaim the glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork to all the earth. However, in the most beautiful panorama of the stars or sunset clouds, God was never so clearly displayed in nature as in Jesus.

The Creator (Joh_1;2-3). The apostle inscribes Jesus’ Name on everything that is in heaven above and earth below. Iron was used to nail Him to the Cross. The wood that it was made, and the thorns that made His crown were all due to His creative fiat.

Life and light (Joh_1;4). The Father was pleased that the life of His human nature should be its reservoir and cistern, in order to give us eternal life through faith. His light is the life.

The Messiah (Joh_1;10-11). “He came to His own.”

The Shekinah (Joh_1;14). Every now and again, our Lord’s earthly life, the curtain of His human nature seemed a rift and to let out some gleams from the radiant splendour His Being. It was the same on His Transfiguration Mount, as well as in His Resurrection & Ascension. The glory was full grace and truth.

The Only-Begotten Son (Joh_1;12-14). While we may be sons, God bless us, He was the Son. Whatever the meaning of “Only Begotten”, He is separated from the noblest children of men through an insurmountable and impassable chasm. It is amazing that He calls us brothers. We should give Him glory and homage.
