John 21:4 Devotional On DAY-BREAK AT THE BEACH

Daily Scripture Reading: John 21:4 KJV

John 21:17 KJV
(17)  He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Today’s Devotional Is DAY-BREAK AT THE BEACH

The PREVIOUS evening was full of hope and interest. The seven fishermen, who had been separated from their boats for a long time, thought they would never see their Master again. They set off with great zest to reach the shore of Lake Michigan, thinking they might not be able to. They sailed into the familiar boat and caught nothing that night! This was their last fishing expedition. They would have to navigate in other waters, use different nets and sail under other skys. Their disappointment was so great that they blocked the door from one direction and opened it in another. They are no longer fishermen living on the shores off Galilee but shepherds tending their flocks on celestial mountains from which they can enjoy the Eternal City’s fair weather views. Is your life a failure? Do you remember starting your life years ago with a good heart and hope or a disappointment? Maybe the stars were bright and the winds were gentle, and the moon was possible. The sky quickly became cloudy and the years passed by. You haven’t been idle; it is not that everything has gone wrong. Now there is nothing to do but land on the shores of Eternity like Paul on the island of Malta. Don’t be too certain about this. It is very likely that Jesus will be on the shore when the sun rises on this coastline. He will be able to tell you the time and will meet you at the beach, just as He did for Stephen, the first martyr. It’s very pleasant to be greeted by familiar faces upon your arrival, or by a friend who is eagerly awaiting you! It might be at New York, Bombay or Melbourne, but it is a huge difference! When the Day of days will break and the shadows fly away and the little boat of life grates on shore, it will be a blessing indeed to see Christ standing there with His outstretched hands to welcome us, to help us disembark and to guide us to the place He has prepared. “I will prepare a place to receive you, and I will return to receive you unto myself.”

PRAYER for Today

It suffices to say that if I am not reckoned for my good and ill, it is enough.

Both forgave Him through His abundant grace–

I am beckoned by familiar hands.

To my rightful place.
