Daily Scripture Reading: Mark 14:14 KJV
Mark 14:14 KJV
(14) And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
Today’s Devotional Is Making Room for Christ
In this passage, Jesus asks for a guest room to share the Passover meal with His disciples. He already had a plan with a devoted friend to use his house for this purpose, but He kept it secret from the two disciples sent to prepare the meal, to avoid the risk of arrest.
Jesus knew the pain of betrayal in the home circle, as we may have experienced with friends who cannot keep our secrets or who are critical of us. But He also knew the value of devoted friendship, and was able to share His plans with the good man who offered his house.
Christ still asks us to give Him a place in our hearts. He stands at the door and knocks, saying: “If any will open the door, I will come in and sup with him, and he with Me.” Once we make room for Him, we can also extend our hospitality to His disciples and other believers.
Let us give Jesus the guest-chamber of our hearts, so that He can come in and share our lives. And let us also open our doors to others in His Name, offering love and fellowship to all who seek Him.
Prayer For Today
Lord, we open our hearts to You and invite You in. Help us to make room for You in every part of our lives, and to share Your love and grace with others. May our guest-chamber be filled with Your presence, and may Your Name be glorified in all that we do. Amen.
