Daily Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:8-9 KJV
Philippians 2:8-9 KJV
(8) And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
(9) Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Today’s Devotional Is STOP RISING
We wake up from our unconsciousness in infancy and find ourselves in a world full of revolt. This conflict is recognized between man and himself, men and their fellows, and God. Is there any help? Is God not going to bring peace and goodness into these troubled scenes someday? Yes, indeed! Yes, indeed! This is happening through ways we didn’t expect.
Our Lord refused to pay homage to His original nature when He stooped to be seen among men. Although He was in the form God, He preferred to hide His glory and to take the form of a servant to make Him like men. The hiding of His power was found in Bethlehem’s cradle, at Nazareth’s home. In His obedience to the death on the cross, and in voluntary limitations of His earthly ministry, To express the Love of God and to bear the guilt of the world, He refused the attributes of His intrinsic Deity. He also refused to use them, so that He could bring about an eternal righteousness. So He is elevated and bears the name of Jesus, the Saviour of the World.
The Apostle said, Let this same mind be within you; think these-thoughts and follow the steps of Jesus. It is important to emulate the masters and show holy reverence for those who will stoop lowest. It is important for us all to think about whether or not we believe in the same creed. But, it is more urgent to ask ourselves if we can have the mind of Christ at all costs and if we are showing the love of God around us.
PRAYER for Today
Our Heavenly Father, grant us patience, tender pity and the humility of Jesus, our Lord, who, even though He was wealthy, became poor for our sakes. Help us to obey even the death on the cross. Save us from saving ourselves so that we can save others. AMEN.
