Daily Scripture Reading: Isaiah 55:4 KJV
Isaiah 55:4 KJV
(4) Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.
Today’s Devotional Is THE FILE LEADER
FOUR TIMES in the New Testament, our Lord is called Leader (or Prince)
The original meaning of the word was “First of a File of Men” and the Commanding Officer or Captain of the men (Act_3:15, Act_5:31, Heb_2;10, Heb_12).
Christ is the way from death to life. Joshua may have been the first to cross the Jordan’s dry bed, while the priests stood beside the Ark of the Covenant. But this is at least true: Our Saviour has preceded and will continue to hold us back until each ransomed has “clean over” (Jos_3;17).
Christ leads His disciples to victory. Our Lord was elevated to the right hand power and opened a way for a company that no one can count to travel throughout time. We may triumph as He did; He is the ruler of all principality, power and authority. As such, we believe He will crush Satan under our feet and make us more than conquerors.
Christ is the one who leads the suffering to perfection. Even though He was the Son, He taught obedience through the things He suffered. He transformed suffering into an elembic and purifying furnace that was a way to discipline, strength and ennoblement. We will find the Son of God at our side when we are thrown into the fiery furnace. He will be free from our bonds and leave us without the smell of fire. Jesus is the leader of a long procession that includes martyrs and sufferers. He has been through more than any other room. He knows how heavy we can take and won’t test our resolve. As we follow His example, He will be with us “all the times” and teach us obedience, faith and hope.
PRAYER for Today
O Lord, whose ways are perfect, help us to always trust in Thy goodness. That we might walk with Thee and follow Thee in all simplicity, and that we might have quiet and content minds. We may also be able to put all our care on Thee because Thou lovest us. AMEN.
